Dan Wolf
and Felonious

Since 1998, critically acclaimed Hip Hop theater and music collective Felonious has been a force in the Bay Area theater and music scene, often creating series, projects and productions that merge the two mediums. In addition to sharing the stage with some of Hip Hop's finest acts, Felonious has developed the smash theatrical hits Angry Black White Boy, Stateless: a hip hop vaudeville and Beatbox: A Raparetta.
The mission of Felonious is to utilize the history and tradition of Hip Hop and its power as the most accessible and prominent mode of activism and communication for young people and people of color. Hip Hop music and theatre are critical contemporary methods for sharing history, news and information and for reflecting the lives of people who are often marginalized. By nature and because Felonious is a multi-cultural collective, their work fosters expression that is deeply reflective of the communities that make up the Bay Area. Felonious is committed to creating inspirational work with a truly independent spirit, fusing the power and traditions of theater, music, dance, education, and outreach. Recent projects and iterations of Felonious include the Bay Area Theatre Cypher, Tommy Shepherd and Kaitlin McGaw’s Grammy-winning multigenerational band Alphabet Rockers, and Dan Wolf’s “Sound in the Silence” holocaust remembrance project blending experiential education with artistic expression to foster empathy, understanding, and creativity while honoring complex historical narratives.
Circuit is currently assisting Felonious in the development of a new project, “The Bag”, the story of a reunion show bringing four once-famous independent emcees back together through a lens of ageism, mental health, the music industry and the power of collaboration. “The Bag” is a tale of how making art with friends can be complicated when the business side of art creates both opportunity and obstacles.
