Ethno-techno Art

Under the direction of artist Guillermo Gómez-Peña, La Pocha Nostra is a unique arts organization devoted to developing models of radical democracy through the arts, challenging the traditional roles of the artist, and breaking down borders between art and politics, audience and spectator, art practice and theory.

La Pocha's performances are a hybrid of Museum of Natural History tableux, freak show, border curio shop, porn window display and Tex-Mex rave. The encounter is likely to induce a feeling of cultural vertigo as you experience a unique combination of radical aesthetics, Chicano humor, robo-baroque visual iconography, and the layering of text spoken in English, Spanish, Spanglish, gringoñol and shamanic tongues.
